MPIFirefighters Auxiliary offers thanks for support, notes group won’t be at Taste of Pine Island
To the editor:
It is with much regret that I must announce that the “famous” Margarita Tent that was staffed by the members of the MPIFirefighters Auxiliary will not participate this year, nor at any future Taste of Pine Island event.
This auxiliary, manned by 12 members – some of us for the most of its entire existence – exits to raise funds for the needs of the firefighters that their budget does not provide. In the past years, we have purchased passage for our former chief to attend the 9-11 Memorial; assisted in funding for some exercise equipment that was needed; donated three 40-inch TVs – one to each of the three stations, and we continue to provide drinking water and Gatorade for these brave men who fight our fires and render professional, on the spot, assistance to the emergency situations on the island.
At this time our auxiliary members wish to express our appreciation to the Island Kiwanis Club for allowing us to operate under their “shelter” for these years. Thank you – so much.
Additionally – last, but certainly not least, our most sincere appreciation and thanks to the visitors and local people who support the Taste of Pine Island event, for their generous contributions for our firefighters over the past five years. It’s been great!!
This MPIFirefighters Auxiliary has not gone away, we are just regrouping and we will be back, just not to the Taste of PIne Island. Keep tuned!!
