About 200 people were in attendance shortly after dark Wednesday night when Santa Claus used his “north pole magic” to turn on the Christmas lights at CW Fudge.

“This is a fund-raising event for the Beacon of H.O.P.E.,” William Tidball, co-owner of CW Fudge Factory, said. “It’s also a kick-off event for the Beacon’s Holiday House celebration on Dec. 4, 5 and 6.

“What we’re doing tonight is a preview of what CW Fudge Factory will be offering at the Holiday House,” Tidball said. “We have a number of seasonal fudge flavors for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanksgiving flavors are pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake, praline and carrot cake. Christmas flavors include eggnog, gingerbread, candy cane, peppermint bark, vanilla rocky road and fruitcake. We have also started a new product line of caramel popcorn and frosted nuts that we will have at the Holiday House.”

Santa was available for pictures and everyone from small children to seniors took advantage of the opportunity.

Austin Allen had his photo taken with his mom, Ryan.

“This is a fun time for everyone,” she said. “Austin’s a little shy but he’s having a fun time.”

“This is our first ever ‘Light Up Night’ and I couldn’t be more pleased with the turnout,” Tidball said. “Santa is here and some of his reindeer and the carolers from the Pine Island Playhouse are caroling outside. I would like this to become a Pine Island tradition.”

CW Fudge Factory is 4548 N.W. Pine Island Road, Matlacha. If you have any questions, call Tidball at 239-283-9911.
