Pine Island American Legion Post 136 Honor and Color Guard participate in dinner for veterans

To the editor:

The Gulf Coast Retirement Center had a special dinner for the residing veterans and family members on Nov. 5.

On hand was the Pine Island American Legion Post 136 Honor and Color Guard, also the Commander of Pine island VFW Post 4353, Keith Keefer, and 2nd Vice Commander Veronica Duflo.

The Honor Guard posted the colors, then the Pledge of Allegiance and the national anthem. The bugler ended this part of the ceremony with the playing of taps.

Commander Keefer said a few words, then the Honor Guard and the Color Guard retired to the hospitality room.

The Honor Guard consisted of Veronica Duflo, Rick Alvarez, Lloyd Buck, Art Haley, Dick Thomas, Peter Trazzera, Frank Taugner, George Bailey, and the bugler Joey Donkersloot.
