Motorcyclist succumbs to injuries
A Cape Coral motorcyclist has died from the injuries that he sustained in a recent crash.
According to information available Tuesday, William Warren Lewis Jr., 25, had expired at Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was trauma-alerted on Nov. 6 with life-threatening injuries following the accident, officials reported.
At about 1:56 a.m., Lewis was traveling eastbound on Archer Parkway on a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle. In the 100 block, he reportedly attempted to negotiate a left curve in the road.
According to the Cape police, Lewis was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the curve. The motorcycle drove off of the road and into the yard of a home at 1028 Archer Parkway. The motorcycle continued to head east until it overturned in the front yard and Lewis was totally ejected.
Both traveled further eastbound, entering the yard of a home at 1032 Archer Parkway. Lewis then crossed the driveway, where he struck the right front bumper of a parked, Ford F-250 truck.
He and the motorcycle came to rest in the front yard of the home, police reported.
Lewis was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Police reported that the accident was alcohol or drug related.
As of Tuesday, the investigation was still ongoing.
