Man injured in accidental shooting remains hospitalized
A Cape Coral man remained hospitalized Tuesday following a recent accidental shooting.
Julio Angel Irrizarry, 20, of 959 S.W. 15th Place, was listed in critical condition at Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was taken last week after the shooting incident, according to officials.
At about 12:20 p.m. Thursday, Cape police responded to a report of a person shot at 959 S.W. 15th Place. The victim, identified as Irrizarry, had sustained a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.
He and his mother were transported to the hospital via an ambulance, according to a report.
Police officials reported in a prepared statement Thursday that the preliminary information indicated that the injury may have been the result of an accidental discharge when the weapon was dropped.
