Few tickets remain for Little Black Dress Gala
With only 100 available, tickets are going fast for the first-ever Little Black Dress Gala.
Hosted by John Michaels Diamond and Jewelry Studio, the event is a fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.” It will take place Saturday, Sept. 27, from 6 to 9 p.m.
“This year we decided to do a little more intimate event,” Connie Hand, committee chair, said.
In previous years, the annual fund-raiser for the Making Strides campaign was known as the Bangles, Bubbles & Bling for “the Girls” event. Last year, it raised approximately $12,500 for the cause.
“With this being a totally entirely different event, I would love to make $20,000 (for the American Cancer Society),” she said. “But our goal right now is $15,000.”
While 250 to 400 people attended in 2013, there is a limited number of seats this year.
“We only have about 30 or 35 (tickets) left,” Hand said Wednesday.
They cost $50 per person and include a promotional gift bag with free goodies.
Ticket holders will also receive a receipt as it is tax deductible.
“If we have any left, they’ll be sold at the door day of, but I don’t anticipate that,” she said.
The fund-raiser will feature a silent auction, wine/cork pull raffle and more.
“This year we want to focus a little bit more on the women,” Hand said, pointing to the campaign. “Because it does benefit breast cancer, we’re making it set more around women.”
Attendees are encouraged to wear their little black dress and jewels.
“This is for the women to dress up,” she said. “They can feel proud of themselves – they can feel proud to be a woman.”
The silent auction will consist of 15 to 25 items. Some of the items include a pair of JetBlue tickets, half-day fishing trip and 14-karat gold blue topaz ring, as well as numerous types of baskets.
For the wine/cork pull raffle, attendees can purchase one cork for $10 or three corks for $25. Hand explained that if there is a number on a cork, the purchaser wins the bottle of wine it matches.
“You may spend $10 and get a $100 bottle of wine,” she said.
In another contest, a 1-carat diamond will be hidden in a truffle. The truffles cost $2 each.
“He’s done that at his holiday event within the store,” Hand said of John Michael Glorioso, owner of John Michaels Diamond and Jewelry Studio.
Live music at the event will be provided by a member of the Cultural Park Theatre.
“We will have a psychic,” she added. “It’s just going to be a fun night.”
Nevermind Awesome Bar & Eatery is providing hors d’oeuvres.
“I think that this is going to be a very fun, relaxing entertaining evening,” Hand said.
