Rockin’ for Robin
After a fantastically successful first of two benefits for local gal Robin Curley, the next is to take place on Fort Myers Beach next week, Saturday, Sept. 13, from noon to 6 p.m., at the Lighthouse Tiki Bar, 1051 5th Ave. Even as she undergoes this very difficult time of battling cancer, Robin manages to keep that beautiful smile for which she’s so well known.
“Fort Myers Beach really has my heart,” she said.
Many have been accustomed to seeing Robin at the many benefits and fund-raisers held on the island over the years, supporting whoever needed it – and now the tables have turned. These benefits are held in her honor, raising funds to help with the many bills for her diagnosis, tests, surgeries and treatment.
Be sure to come by the Lighthouse next Saturday to lend your support to Curley.
Enjoy plenty of fun for everyone, including music, food, raffles, silent auctions, and lots more.
The musical lineup that day, all donated by our very talented local musicians, will include Frank Thompson, Trinity Andrews, Left Of Center, Habitat For Harmony and Smack Daddy.
“Ms. Trinity Andrews is a talented and charming young lady from Tampa, who has offered to perform here for Robin,” said Mike “Popeye” Dearden, event coordinator for the Fort Myers Beach benefit. “She is about to appear on America’s Got Talent (NBC). She has an incredible voice and a magnificent stage presence. She’s also just 13 years old!”
Popeye encourages benefit-goers to bring their checkbooks, as there will be far too many fantastic items on the silent auction tables that will be too difficult to resist, like a one-week stay at a Costa Rican beach cottage!
Anyone wishing to make any type of donation to the benefit are welcome to do so. To contribute a gift for the raffles or silent auctions, please call Popeye, 239-244-4437.

Showing your blue
for the cause
Those wishing to show their support before, during or after these special fund-raisers can purchase blue “Robin Strong” bracelets, signifying the fight for colon cancer, for $2 at local hot spots, stating “No One Fights Alone.” Pick them up at the Lighthouse Tiki Bar, Surf Club, Beached Whale, Lani Kai, Val’s Lounge or The Mermaid or BackStreets.
Contributing to the cause
Contributions to Rockin’ for Robin can be made by making checks payable either directly to Robin Curley, or in the case of contributions desiring a tax exemption letter for their donation, make checks payable to the Florida Helps Foundation. Every dollar contributed in this fashion will be remitted to Robin, but in order to receive your tax credit, checks must be recorded in the non-profit’s books. This validates your contribution with the IRS. In either case, mail your contribution to: Popeyepalooza, P.O. Box 6103, Fort Myers Beach, Fla. 33932. Contributions made out directly to Robin will be channeled to her immediately, while those going through the Florida Helps Foundation will experience a one week delay only.
