Council to vote on three ordinances Monday
City Council will vote on three ordinances amending the Comprehensive Plan and Land Use Maps in final public hearings on Monday in Council Chambers. It also will amend the Infrastructure Element to update projects and adopt an updated water supply facilities work plan.
The city is seeking to annex several parcels of land in the Del Pine Manor area on Hibiscus Drive, located north of Pondella Road and south of Pine Island Road. These parcels are surrounded on all sides by parcels already within the city of Cape Coral.
Multiple properties along Del Pine and Hibiscus Drive have been annexed since 2005 and subsequently given Pine Island Road District future land use map classification.
Another ordinance seeks to change a Burnt Store Road North sub-district map parcel from low density residential and open space designation to commercial/professional designation for property located in the 3500 block of Burnt Store Road.
Council also will discuss a request from the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management for reimbursement of funds received for Hurricane Charley debris cleanup. FEMA has tagged these funds as an overpayment. A Disaster Relief Funding Agreement executed in September 2004 requires repayment of $123,210.49.
The city has appealed the ruling as recently as February 2012. Cape Coral received more than $11 million in reimbursement for costs resulting from Hurricane Charley.
The city’s repayment would not impact the city’s General Fund.
