Sam’s Club starts hiring
It’s time to get those resumes updated and your interview skills sharpened.
Sam’s Club is looking to hire between 30 and 50 part-time sales associates for its new Cape Coral location on the corner of Pine Island Road and Hancock Bridge Parkway, which is under construction and is expected to open early next year.
Interviews started on Monday and will continue at the Fountain Shops, 814 SW Pine Island Road, units 206-209, near Stevie Tomato’s.
Craig Canup, Sam’s Club’s general manager, said he is looking for people within the community with a strong sales background as initial hires during this “soft hiring” event.
“We will be out in the community trying to drive our membership programs and making people aware that were coming and to make actual sales,” Canup said. “That first wave has to have that background or just the right attitude.”
Canup said he hopes to secure all those positions within the next two months.
By the time Sam’s Club opens, Canup expects to have 160 positions filled, with a third of them full time.
Among the positions sought include team leaders, cashiers, floor associates, meat cutters, bakers, cake decorators, produce people, as well as those who will work in the hearing center, optical center and the pharmacy.
“We’ll be looking for a broad spectrum of experience and talent to fill those spots,” Canup said.
Compensation depend son experience and position sought. Canup said Sam’s Club’s salary and benefits are competitive compared to other jobs in the area, including paid vacation and medical.
Canup also said the company is growing, so future growth and positions are another strong point for the company.
“It’s just a great environment to work in, a very fun pace to be,” Canup said.
