The Ferguson, Mo., debacle
To the editor:
What in the world is happening in Ferguson? Looting, burning private property, threatening law-biding citizens -absolute lawlessness. And the situation is being treated as if a small band of thugs have the right to terrorize a community.
Shame on the Governor and any other public official for not forcefully putting an end to the outrageous situation.
Answering the throwing of molotov cocktails and the gunfire, and the destruction of stores along with the stealing of property with the police firing rubber bullets and using tear gas is not what we expect from either the police or the elected weasels ordering this.
Sadly, the only thing that will serve to make these individuals stop what they’re doing is force, and neither speeches or playing with rubber bullets will serve to put an end to this activity.
The killing of Michael Brown certainly deserves an investigation. However, there is due process in America and that is something we owe to every citizen -including the police officer involved. We should not permit a band of hoodlums to persuade us to punish anyone before all the facts are gathered and we have an opportunity to conduct a fair trial.
Shame on Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, and the like for going out of their way to inflame the situation.
Shame on law enforcement for taking a timid approach, and ignoring their responsibility.
Shame on the Governor for playing politics.
And shame on the media for its lack of guts.
God bless the Michael Brown family and God bless the good people of Ferguson.
