Providing instruction will be Annie Wenz. A singer/songwriter/performer, RN, biker and player of guitar, piano, drums, wooden flutes and hubcaps from Queens, who has traveled over 25 countries over 25 years “bringing people together through music.” She’s performed at arts centers, festivals and coffeehouses from coast to coast and abroad, and from dusty dives in Denver and back alley biker bars in Boston, to froufrou places like The Kennedy Center in Washington DC and “New Zealand’s Millennium Celebration.” She’s performed and taught and written with various artists including Kip Lawrence, Senegalize drum wizard Massamba Djop (Babba Mal), Robert Dean (Sinead O’Connor’s guitarist), “Futureman” of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Dr Jeri Nielsen of the Ice Bound book and movie, and National Boyd Award winning novelist Robert Macomber. Her story songs are inspired by her journeys… kayaking and backpacking around the world, working as an activist, registered nurse, rafting guide, road rash biker, and teacher. She just released a brand shiny new CD “Ride the Sky” which debuted as No. 9 in Nov. on the international Folk dj list and she has six previous CDs on her own independent label including her instrumental CD “Winds of the World,” soundtrack for the feature film “Gateway to Faeries.”
Joining Wenz will be Kip Lawrence, well known as a member of The Yard Dogs, but songwriting has always been his main focus. In the past two years he has seen growing success as a writer while pitching his songs for television, movies and video. Kip has also worked at The Key West Songwriters Fest as well as creating his own festivals, namely, The Southwest Florida Songwriters Fest and The Southwest Florida Folk And Blues Fest. Kip’s solo CD “Alone With A Song” still sells and he is at work on his second CD which will be finished by April. With The Yard Dogs, he has helped to write and produce 10 CDs.
