Gas pains
To the editor:
If you have gas pains, you would probably take Beano to get relief. However, these store bought remedies won’t get rid of the projected $4 per gallon gas pains you have now. The only way to get rid of these gas pains is to get rid of the cause, and it’s the guy in the White House.
In the summer of 2010, after the Gulf oil well blowout disaster, President Obama, arbitrarily and without cause or reason, declared a complete no drilling moratorium in the Gulf, thereby shutting down a major part of the energy producing industry for the U.S. He stopped the ability to supply new oil for energy demands, thereby raising prices for fuel. Remember supply and demand: no supply and you will pay a higher price to satisfy the demand.
As a result of President Obama’s moratorium, approximately 25 percent of the boats supplying the drilling rigs have been dry stacked or moth balled at the dock. This is not to mention the huge layoffs of workers: drilling crews, dock workers, truck drivers and the companies that produce material needed to drill.
At this time, approximately 80 percent of the drilling rigs that operated in the gulf have been moved to drill elsewhere. They are now in east Africa, Mexico and Argentina. Getting them back and in operation will not happen overnight. Be glad you aren’t up north paying for heating oil. Ouch.
Gas is predicted to be $4 per gallon. Exxon Mobil will probably have record profits. BP with its fines of $20 billion, still posted an extremely high profit.
I doubt if you will ever see President Obama in a Chevrolet Volt trying to save energy. Trucks and trains still run on diesel. The higher cost of transportation will be felt in your everyday life, especially at the grocery store.
We have some of the largest oil resources and we need a leader to authorize drilling for these resources. We need someone who does more than push windmills as an alternative source of energy. Change is what we got in the last election and change is what is now needed — remember Election Day in November 2012
