National acts to perform at Bert’s this weekend
Hailing from New Orleans, Nashville and Illinois, the music line-up at Bert’s Bar and Grill in Matlacha will be a blues lovers dream come true. Taking the spotlight in the Gator Room at Bert’s will be Julie Black, Brent Moyer and Bryan Lee for three days of performances by these national acts.
Julie Black, known at “Angel for the Blues” began her career at a very young age in Illinois. As she grew, she became a prolific songwriter and is said to find inspiration everywhere. In 2007, Black released her first CD “Call Me Angel for the Blues” which achieved national acclaim and hit the charts on XM Satellite radio and in Roots Music Report. Black will be performing at Bert’s on Saturday, Jan. 22, at 7:30 p.m.
Nashville recording artist, Brent Moyer also returns to Bert’s and those who have seen Moyer in the past will tell that his performances are just plain fun. Moyer’s musical styles rang from Tex-Mex to country and Cajun to jazz and brings something for everyone to his performance. In addition to his solo act, Moyer also has produced and recorded music with many artists with many of his songs having been covered by other noted performers such as Joe Sun and Wayne Carson. Moyer will be found in the Gator Room at Bert’s on Sunday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m.
Rounding out this field of national performers will be Bryan Lee from New Orleans. Until Hurricane Katrina hit the area, Lee was a regular performer at the Old Absinthe House on Bourbon Street and quickly became a favorite among tourists to the area. In addition to performing gigs throughout the United States and Europe, Lee also appeared as a musical guest on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in the winter of 2007 and was a 2010 Grammy nominee. Lee will be at Bert’s on Monday, Jan. 24, at 7:30 p.m.
