By Staff | Jan 15, 2011

The second annual Italian American Festival of Cape Coral will feature Italian entertainment and food, exhibitors and a kiddie land for all the children on Jan. 22 and Jan. 23 at the German American Social Club.
The event will kick off at 11 a.m. on Jan. 22 and run until 10 p.m., with live entertainment from noon until 8 p.m. On Sunday the gates will reopen at noon and close at 7 p.m., with live entertainment all day long.
Chairman of the Event Bob DelGross said they wanted to bring Italian culture to Cape Coral by hosting a celebration of Italian heritage with food and entertainment.
Favorite Italian foods like Italian sausage and peppers and chicken and eggplant parmesan will be prepared by the Cape Coral Italian American Club.
Live entertainment is being brought in from Orlando for the event, which will feature Italian songs.
DelGross said in spite of the weather last year they attracted approximately 8,000 people.
“We are hoping to get more this year if the weather is in our favor,” he said.
The event has more to offer the community this year.
Attendees will have the opportunity to visit between 30 and 40 exhibitors, along the offering of more kiddy rides and ponies.
“We expanded a little bit from last year,” DelGross said.
Admission to the event is $6. DelGross said they have been passing out $1 off coupons that individuals can use to receive a discount at the gate.
