St. Andrew festival to run Thursday-Sunday
The 20th annual St. Andrew four-day festival will kick off on Thursday, Jan. 13, with carnival rides, food and a good deal of entertainment for everyone to enjoy until Sunday, Jan. 16.
Entertainment Chair Tara Lukasik, who became involved in the festival nine years ago, said that although the carnival rides come from out of town, the food and entertainment are all local. Volunteers will make a variety of home-made food during the festival for individuals to purchase.
“It is great memories for our kids because it is on our student grounds,” Lukasik said about the event. “It creates wonderful memories and they have such a great time while they are there.”
The silent auction will open on Friday and close Sunday night. It will feature such items as a puppy, a two-person kayak, Broadway Palm tickets and Barbara B. Mann tickets, a dolphin cruise, Miracle game box seats and gift certificates to various restaurants.
A $10,000, $1,500 and $1,000 raffle also will be up for grabs during the festival with the winners announced between 7 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on Sunday. Individuals can purchase one raffle ticket for $2, three for $5 or a book of 10 for $10.
Lukasik said the profits generated from the festival will go towards the St. Andrew Endowment Fund.
“It is for a good cause,” she said. “It is for the kids and running the schools. It’s our largest fundraiser of the year.”
A Texas Hold’Em Tournament will be held on Friday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. Registration for the event begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased by calling Vince at (239) 462-3537.
Friday night also will feature rock band Crooks and Kobayashi Dojo on Saturday night, among other local entertainment.
Saturday night will offer a Cape Coral Pageant that will include evening gowns, bathing suits and a talent performance.
The entertainment also will include a St. Andrew Talent Show on Saturday and Sunday night featuring “Evolution of Dance.”
“There is something for everyone,” she said.
Ride bracelets are available to purchase through Thursday night for four-day ride tickets at $55. On Friday individuals will have to purchase individual tickets from the ticket booth for each carnival ride.
Lukasik said the students are currently selling the bracelets during and after school until 6 p.m., along with during the festival on Thursday night.
Since there has already been a few cold snaps this winter, she said they should be in pretty good shape with warmer weather, therefore attracting a larger crowd during the festival.
The festival will be held from 6-10 p.m. on Thursday, 6-11 p.m. on Friday, noon-11 p.m. on Saturday and from noon until 10 p.m. on Sunday.
