“The Beacon Beam” continues to brightly shine
According to the staff and volunteers at the Beacon, Black Friday resulted in the largest single sales day in the Beacon’s Thrift Story history.
“We thank all of you for your contributions to our mission of H.O.P.E., said PILTRO president Betsy Haesemeyer. “We encourage everyone to visit the Thrift Store today for a great selection of holiday and winter merchandise and the best prices in Lee County.”
The Thrift Store plays a major roll in the continued ability to provide a number of programs to the people of Pine Island and Haesemeyer also said that the staff in the Beacon of H.O.P.E.’s Community Programs have seen more than 300 clients in both October and November seeking assistance. As a result, the Beacon is now hosting L.I.H.E.A.P. appointments each Friday. This program is geared to assist those in need with payments for utility bills. To learn about the program qualifications or to make an appointment, call the Beacon at 283-5123 or Monday mornings between the hours of 10 and 11 a.m. These appointments are for qualified Pine Island residents only.
During the holiday season, the Beacon board is offering at 10-day event which began on Dec. 3 with Holiday House of H.O.P.E. Everyone is welcome to browse and shop for holiday items and gifts at 1112 Porpoise Point Road in Matlacha.
