2 min read

The Cape Coral Arts Studio will have an opening reception Friday, Oct. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m., for nationally known fine arts impressionist painter Pat Dunn.
The opening reception will also include live music from harpist Elizabeth Lilly. The “Journey to an Exhibition” exhibit will be featured until Oct. 28.
Dunn studied and painted with late Gale Bennett in Southwest Florida and in Claude Monet’s garden in Giverny, France. She has exhibits in Fort Myers, Sanibel, Bonita Springs, Useppa Island and Sarasota, along with Giverny, France.
Dunn is best known for her local floral paintings and water lilies paintings on site in Monet’s Garden.
“I have always had a interest in the arts, but it was not until retiring from a medical career and moving to Florida that I began painting with passion,” Dunn said. “It was my sincere desire to paint to entertain the eye and not the mind.”
She said she wanted to study art more, along with the success of other artist, which began her journey that will continue until she lays her brushes down.
Dunn said the “Journey to an Exhibition” includes paintings of people painting plein air, paintings of people at their easel at workshops and paintings of people looking at master paintings in museums. She also included landscapes that inspired her from her journey travels.
“It is so inspiring for me to paint people engaged in the love of art both as an creator and as an observer,” Dunn said.
She said one way to become a better painter is to approach the easel with a dedicated desire to learn with every experience.
The Cape Coral Arts Studio is located at 4533 Coronado Parkway. The hours are 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday and Saturday. For information call (239) 574-0802.
