Bourbon braised short ribs
Ingredients:
4 lbs. beet short ribs
Coarse salt and black pepper
2 tsp. vegetable oil
1/2 c. bourbon
1 c. barbeque sauce
1 lg. yellow onion, halved and sliced
3/4 c. water
How to:
Season the short ribs with salt and pepper. In a large saute pan over medium-high heat, warm the oil until almost smoking. Add half of the ribs and brown on all sides, seven to eight minutes. Remove to a plate. Repeat with the remaining ribs. Return of the ribs to a slow cooker. Add the onions, barbeque sauce, bourbon and water. Cove and cook on low until the meat nearly falls off the bone, about six hours.
Over medium-high heat, grill the ribs until nicely grill marked, about two minutes on each side. Transfer to a platter. SErve with barbeque sauce on the side.
