Second lesson in common sense
To the editor:
Welcome to common sense 102.
Ever notice how the priests and ministers stand at the door and shake hands? Very inappropriate, especially during flu season. The custom started by making sure the enemy did not have a weapon in his hand. Do we really need that custom now? Wouldn’t the old Indian “How” with hands up in the air do?
Nodding your head in recognition would be so much healthier.
Back to immigration again. Some mental case stated on TV that all children of illegals should be sent through our high schools and colleges. She also said that it would save us money. I think I have a better idea. Send them all back to where they all came from. I don’t have a prejudiced bone in my body, but I know right from wrong. My grandparents came into this country the old fashioned way. Legal. We should stop immigration completely until we get back on our feet. Have the people working in immigration track down the illegals and deport them.
War. I’m getting sick and tired of hearing our boys getting killed over there and for what? Does anybody know why we are fighting over there? Could it be oil or just the almighty buck? So many companies are getting rich on the war, not to mention the corruption galore. This war has made us look like a third-rate country at the cost of the blood of our fighting forces. Let them fight among themselves. They have been doing it for centuries. Send the politicians to the war zone and fight. The war would be over in a day.
Hey Madonna, Brittany, Tim and Faith. How about a benefit for our boys overseas? They deserve it.
Crime. Ever watch Cops on TV? If cops are chasing a subject on foot, the cops try to yell him to the ground. Maybe 40 to 50 times they’ll yell stop, stop or get on the ground. I mean it’s like watching the Keystone Cops again. I don’t blame the cops for it. They’re just following procedure. But, again, like the old days, one warning shot, then shoot to kill. That’s a deterrent.
Drugs are causing more casualties than all the wars combined. Get rid of the revolving door policy for drug dealers. Here again, the death penalty before our kids get involved.
We all heard by now that they extended unemployment benefits which is good else the crime rate would shoot up. But, on the other side of the coin, would you look for a job if you were getting a check regularly?
Since Obama didn’t take my advice on the WPA, let’s look into the CCC that did wonders for this country during the Depression. If the people are getting checks, let them earn them. The following is some of the achievements of the CCC. We could turn something bad into something good.
Constructed 3,500 beaches, installed 5,000 miles of waterlines, restored 4,000 historic structures, build 4,650 fish ponds, developed more than 800 state parks, they constructed dams, picnic shelters and cabins, erected more than 46,000 bridges, thousands of miles of roads, even Camp David was a CCC camp.
The old rule of don’t talk abut politics or religion just came into effect and I feel good about mixing them.
Remember voting time. Get rid of the politicians and put a working man in.

P.S. If you think it’s hot, think about the boys over there in 100-plus degrees wearing full combat uniforms and weapons. Maybe that’ll cool you off.
