Beacon of HOPE thanks Winn-Dixie
To the editor:
Saturday’s fund raiser was a tremendous success. We raised $900 to help support those in need on Pine Island. This fund raiser would not have happened without the dedication, time and laughs of Pattie Scott and Dan Loughren brought to the table! From initial discussion to final cleanup, Pattie and Dan’s excitement, creativity and generosity shown through.
I would like to thank the awesome staff of Winn-Dixie, Nichhole Tvarked, Devon Keller, Jackie Burns, Gregg Rossey, Sonia Young, Kyle Deak, Ty-Anna Cardoso, Rosniel Hernandez, Kathy Scott, Taylor France “Mr. Hotdog”, Ashlei Cope, Angel Dilone, Toni Silvers, Boorke Beatty, Pilar Lopez, Jason Smolinka and Rob Yoder. Their enthusiasm and heart was evident in everything they did to make this event so special.
Mel Brinson, Scout Master, extraordinare and his amazing scouts when above and beyond to help the Beacon at this event. Through their efforts alone close to $300 was raised! Mel had asked earlier this year how the scouts could help the Beacon. I had no idea the joy, talent and hard work he was offering! A thanks goes to Cameron Swartz “Steel Drum Wizard.” Shep Brinson, Devon Hamilton, Kioni Williams, Palmer Haffner, Justin Church and a very special thanks to Suzanne Brinson who gave up her Saturday to help the Beacon.
I would like to thank my Pine Island “celebrities” who helped make the event special. Thanks to Mango Queen, Carrie Call, Robing Lilly and the infamous Captain Mike. Steve McCarter and Gil Lewis provided music as patrons entered the store. What a great way to start grocery shopping. Thanks to both talented musicians.
I would also like to thank the staff and volunteers of the Beacon, Sheri Dube, Dean Gluhareff, Rocky Keller whose dedication to the Beacon is endless.
And the Beacon of HOPE would like to thank the Pine Island community who once again reached into their pockets and gave so generously to help their neighbors in need.
