Special appearance by Matt Mango

By Staff | Jul 27, 2010

Marianne Paton MangoMania 2010 King, Matt Mango, paid a special visit to summer campers at North Captiva Island Club. Matt Mango officially dubbed each of the children as honorary knights and princesses to serve as his court.

Greeted with cheers of “Hey, that’s Matt Mango”, Trafalgar Elementary School students were treated to a very special surprise visit from a now familiar Pine Island figure. During a field trip, 59 children attending a summer camp program were ferried out to North Captiva for a day of swimming and barbecue at the North Captiva Island Club. Much to their surprise, also stopping by was Matt Mango, the reigning king for MangoMania 2010. Accompanying Matt Mango was current Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce President Adam Jackson who introduced Matt and assisted in dubbing all 59 children as knights and princesses of the king’s court.

This event was coordinated by food and beverage manager for the North Captiva Island Club, Andrew Bush.

“These events are always a great deal of fun and we are very pleased that Matt Mango was here to treat the kids to a visit,” said Bush. “We thank the Pine Island Chamber for helping us make the children’s visit an exciting one.”

In addition to hosting school outings, the North Captiva Island Club also caters to weddings, private parties and other special events. The headquarters for North Captiva cruises is in Matlacha.
