Scouts lend a hand during Elks Flag Day
Members of Boy Scout Troop 20 gathered earlier this month at the Pine Island Elks Lodge to help during the annual Flag Day ceremony. For their continued efforts in the Boy Scouts of America program, members of the Elks presented the troop with a check to help defray the cost of an upcoming trip. The island scouts will be venturing out of state later this summer for a unique camping excursion and according to Scoutmaster Mark Haffner, the donation from the Elks will enable two scouts to attend free of charge.
Boy Scouts is open to young men in grades 6 through 12 and Troop 20 meets every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Pine Island United Methodist Church.
