Man injured in June accident released from hospital
A second person involved in a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred two weeks ago has been released from the hospital, according to officials.
John Turner, 17, of 7587 Marx Drive, Fort Myers, had been discharged from Lee Memorial Hospital as of Thursday. He was transported to the hospital on June 11 following the accident, along with John Patrick Roberts, 22, of 2007 Buddy Lane, North Fort Myers.
Roberts had been released as of Tuesday, hospital officials reported.
A third person in the vehicle died on scene, according to Cape Coral police officials. Brittany Nicole Lehman, 20, of 1717 Park Meadows Drive, Apt. 3, Fort Myers, died from injuries that she sustained in the accident.
According to police spokeswoman Connie Barron, Roberts was driving north on Del Prado Boulevard, North, at about 8 p.m. when the car drifted to the right and left the roadway. The vehicle skidded about 284 feet before striking a tree head on in the 3500 block.
The crash report states that Lehman, who was wearing a seat belt, was riding in the front passenger seat. Roberts was also wearing a seat belt, but Turner was not wearing one. The car was traveling at an estimated speed of 85 mph on a portion of Del Prado that has a posted speed limit of 50 mph.
Barron reported that Roberts was traveling at a high rate of speed and alcohol was a factor. A traffic homicide investigation is being conducted.
