By Staff | Jun 8, 2010

Marianne Paton Thanking him for his service to the school, Pine Island Elementary PTO and staff presented a plaque to bus driver Glenn Diers. Present for the presentation were principal, Rob Mazzoli, Glenn Diers, PTO member Laurie Bartolotta, PIE staff members Monica Renz, PTO member Lynn Newman, PIE teacher Nancy Benjamin and assitant principal Richard Anderson.

In recognition for his dedicated service to the students of Pine Island, members of Pine Island Elementary PTO and staff recently presented a plaque to bus driver, Glenn Diers.

“This is our way of thanking Glenn for all that he does for the kids,” said assistant principal Richard Andrews. “He is always there to not only help his fellow bus drivers in need, but he knows every child by name that rides on his bus and there are never any discipline problems.”

Diers has been driving a school bus carrying children to Pine Island Elementary School and Mariner High School for more than 11 years.

“Principal Mazzoli said that he thought I go above and beyond the call of duty, but that’s not the way I see it,” Diers said. “I am just doing my job and now that my kids are grown, I am just enjoying watching these grow up, that’s just the way I am.”
