Two children were injured Wednesday evening, one fatally, after they were struck by a pickup truck in the north Cape.
A 5-year-old girl died Wednesday evening after she was struck in the 800 block of N.E .11th Terrace. In addition, an 8-year-old girl was transported to Health Park with non-life threatening injuries.
The initial investigation indicates that the girls were riding down a driveway on a skateboard. It appears that they were laying flat on the skateboard as it went down the driveway.
The driver, Jacob Aaron Amann, 27, was traveling westbound in a 2004 Ford F-150 on N.E. 11 Terrace when he struck the girls. A traffic homicide investigation is being conducted.
The names of the children have not been released pending notification of family. This is the city’s fifth traffic fatality.
