Cape police arrest suspect in Walgreen’s robbery
Cape Police officers quickly located and arrested a a man following an armed robbery at the Walgreen’s Pharmacy on Del Prado Boulevard Monday morning.
Christopher R. McLain, 20, of 2784 N.W. 3rd Street, was charged with armed robbery after police say he stole narcotics while armed with a knife.
Officers with the south and central units of Platoon Two responded to a 911 call at 9:01 a.m. reporting a robbery at the Walgreen’s at 2710 Del Prado Boulevard. They were told a man jumped the counter in the pharmacy department, armed with a large knife, and stole medications from the safe.
The robber then fled the store and was observed by witnesses entering a medical center across the street from the pharmacy.
A subject matching the description of the robbery suspect, and later identified as McLain was found on the second floor of the medical facility and taken into custody. McLain admitted to robbing the pharmacy, officials said. The knife used in the robbery was found in the Walgreen’s parking lot. No one was injured.
McLain was charged and transported to the Lee County Jail.
