Like other cities across the nation, Cape Coral took time out to honor the National Day of Prayer at city hall on Thursday.
City officials, staff, and residents made up the 50 or so people gathered outside of Pop’s Cafe to take part in the event, which took time to bless the city, the economy, and public servants, to name a few.
“We need to remind ourselves of our blessings,” said Michael Hansigner, who’s been attending the National Prayer Day service at city hall off and on for 24 years. “It’s a commitment that’s needed daily.”
Pastor Jeff Sweringen from Cross Point Christian Church presided over the event.
Sweringen said, as a city, Cape Coral needs to turn to God to heal from the hardships of the last few years.
“The real healing will come from the hand of God,” Sweringen said.
Among those attending were Mayor John Sullivan, council members Pete Brandt and Kevin McGrail, City Manager Carl Schwing, and chiefs Rob Petrovich and Bill Van Helden.
