Learn how to better invest your hard-earned dollars during seminar
With today’s economic climate, islanders continue to seek new and creative ways to make their money work for them. Sharing his extensive knowledge about investments will be P. Arthur Huprich, chief market technician and senior vice president-equity research with Raymond James. Huprich will offer a free seminar at the Raymond James office in Bokeelia, just north of the center, on Thursday, April 15, beginning at 11 a.m. An expert in market analysis, Huprich has gained a loyal following among island residents when in 2008, he employed his technical guidance to steer a lot of investors out of the market, saving thousands in losses. Learn why he advised clients to move investments and the results during the seminar.
According to financial advisor Buzzy Phillips with the Raymond James Bokeelia office, Huprich will share information about the methods he uses to analysis stocks and other investments.
“Art is a very intelligent and interesting speaker and just listening to him is fascinating,” said Phillips. “His talk this week will focus on where he sees the market over the short term as well as the intermediate term. People who want to learn about market analysis are sure to learn a lot from Art.”
Phillips also explained the difference between a market analyst and a technical researcher.
“The analyst looks primarily at the business. For example, let’s say a company like GE. The analyst may tell you it is a good solid company worth investing in, while the technical researcher looks at the stock only. He may recommend not buying because of the lack of fluctuation in the stock’s performance,” Phillips said. “Art is highly respected for his predictions regarding downturns as a technical researcher and is a wealth of information.”
Huprich as been with Raymond James and Associates since January 2001. Prior to that time, he was the chief technical analyst with Ferris, Baker and Watts, Inc. from July of 1997 and offers analysis on the stock market, industry groups and individual stocks along with commodities, currencies and interest rates by researching and supply-demand characteristics of price movement and volume fluctuations. Huprich is one of 900 active Charted Market technicians worldwide.
According to Phillips, the free seminars presented at his office are meant to help educate the investor via knowledgeable speakers. Future seminars to be presented at Raymond James in Bokeelia include a representative from the Social Security Administration who will provide information about Social Security benefits and representatives from the FBI who will address identity theft and how to protect yourself from becoming a victim.
