Patti L. Schnell, 47, of Cape Coral passed Friday morning, April 9, 2010 at Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral. She was born in Orlando, Nov. 21, 1962 to James and Mona Grinstead.
Patti attended Branford High School and graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Journalism. She married Don in 1989 and lived in Naples, Marco Island and Key West Florida before moving to Lee County in 1995.
Patti served as the executive director of the Cape Coral Construction Industry for the past 12 years. She also had served as executive director of North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce and special events coordinator for the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce. She was an active participate and volunteer in many community organizations and projects many times taking on a leadership role.
Patti will be remembered for her passion and love of the Cape Coral community while always putting others before herself.
Her family includes her husband Don of Cape Coral, her mother Mona Grinstead and two brothers Duncan Grinstead and Timothy Grinstead all of Branford, Fla., her step-son John Schnell of Cleveland, mother and father-in-law John and Carolyn Schnell of St. Louis, MO, sister-in-law Donna Schnettgoecke of Fort Myers,and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Patti was preceded in death by her father James in 2009.
The funeral will be conducted at Noon Wednesday April 14, at Cape Coral First United Methodist Church. Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Metz Chapel of Harvey-Engelhardt-Metz Funeral Homes in Cape Coral.
