Breast Fest walk another huge success
To the editor:
My personal thanks to From Our Hearts, Inc. and to the many other organizers, volunteers and participants who helped to make the recent Breast Fest fund raising walk such a huge success. It is really encouraging to see that this event, despite humble beginnings, is rapidly growing to become a major Pine Island event.
I also want to congratulate and provide thanks to the members of the St. James City Civic Association Exercise Group for your overwhelming generosity and impressive level of participation in this year’s event. As you know, it was because of the combined efforts and generosity of our members that we were awarded the prize for largest group participating. Let’s keep it going!
Last, on behalf of our entire group, I want to offer special thanks to Tropic Star Cruises for its generous gift of a free sunset cruise for up to 45 people to the largest group participating. On Wednesday, March 24, our happy band of revelers departed Pineland Marina on the Tropic Star under clear skies and smooth waters for an absolutely delightful two-hour excursion around the local waters and islands of Pine Island Sound. The cruise itself is a terrific way to spend time getting acquainted with the beauty of our local waters, which seemed to teem with dolphins that evening and the good humor and hard work of Captain Ted and First Mate, Billy, made our aquatic adventure much more enjoyable. We’re so lucky on Pine Island to have both people and businesses that care!
