A Cape Coral man remained hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after being ejected from the motorcycle he was riding when it collided with a truck.
Timothy Krygier, 24, of 3612 S.W. Seventh Ave., was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital after the traffic crash. Pat Dolce, spokeswoman for Lee Memorial Health System, said Krygier was in critical condition Wednesday.
According to Connie Barron, spokeswoman for the Cape police department, officers responded to a serious accident at 8:04 p.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of Skyline Boulevard. Several witnesses told police that a black, 2003 Yamaha was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed.
Also traveling southbound was a white, 1999 Ford F250, driven by 44-year-old Ray McDunnah, of 500 S.W. 11th Ave. Krygier approached the truck from behind and the motorcycle struck the rear of it, according to the witnesses. The motorcycle caromed west off of Skyline and into a vacant lot.
Barron reported that Krygier was ejected from the motorcycle. He landed in a nearby vacant lot along with the motorcycle, which broke into two pieces. It was unknown Wednesday whether Krygier was wearing a helmet. Krygier was airlifted from the crash site to Lee Memorial Hospital via MEDSTAR.
McDunnah was not injured in the accident.
The investigation continues, Barron said. Alcohol was involved in the crash.
