Pine Island people are unique

By Staff | Mar 23, 2010

To the editor:

The people who live here on Pine Island have always been a special bunch of people. This is shown by the way they always step up to the plate to help the many worthy causes in the community.

Those that attended the M*A*S*H Bash Saturday enjoyed the food, games and prizes. Our very own Olympics kept everyone in suspense tlll the winners were announced with the gold metal going to Ron Bokros, silver metal to Paul Hartman and the bronze to Tom Caldwell.

The people, businesses and organizations that came forth to help the VFW hold the M*A*S*H Bash this past weekend was sincerely appreciated. Remember these businesses give from their heart, so please help by patronizing those who have helped our community. The following businesses have given generously to our cause: Alden Pines, April’s Island Salon, Bank of America, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Edward Jones (Belinda Marud), Carl’s Service, Dr. Watson, Footprints in the Sand, Great Licks Ice Cream, Island Carpet Cleaning, Island Clippers, Island Cow Trading Company, LIttle Lilly’s, Mango Tango, Matlacha Menagerie and Cafe, Miceli’s Restaurant, MPI Properties, inc., Pampered Pup, Pine Island Cycles, Pine Island Feed and Garden Center, Ragged Ass Saloon, Signmakers, Southwest Capital Bank, St. James Auto, SunTrust Bank, TIG Bank and Traders Hitching Post. Also are the organizations that help us: Beacon of HOPE, FISH and the Women of the Moose.

A big thank you to Marianne Paton and the Eagle for keeping everyone well informed on when the event was taking place.

An event is only successful as the people behind it, and with the many volunteers, and patrons at this event, how could we not be successful.

Thank you all,

Jill Davidson
