South Cape Concert Series to feature hip-hop stars
The second annual South Cape Concert Series opens Saturday night at 6 p.m. behind Pearl Lounge with 90’s hip-hop stars Coolio and Tone Loc.
Last year’s four-day concert series, called Pearl Jam, featured Vanilla Ice, another old-school rapper. Organizers this year decided to make it only one day.
Tone Loc grew to fame in the late 80’s and early 90’s, mainly on the strength of his hit singles “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina,” both of which sold more than a million copies. He also appeared in movies such as “Ace Ventura Pet Detective” with Jim Carrey and “Heat” with Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino.
Coolio scored a multi-platinum success with the single “Gangsta’s Paradise,” featured in the film Dangerous Minds, and went on to be featured in film and television.
Tickets for the South Cape Concert Series featuring Tone Loc and Coolio are $15 in advance, $20 the day of the concert.
Tickets can be purchased at Pearl Lounge and Tattoo Artistry, both in downtown Cape Coral, and online at pearlnightclub.net.
The concert is Saturday, March 20. Gates open at 5 p.m., and there will also be two opening acts. The Pearl Lounge is located at 1403 Cape Coral Parkway.
