New traffic pattern on Santa Barbara Boulevard between Veterans Parkway and S.W. 28th Terrace

By Staff | Mar 11, 2010

As part of the Santa Barbara Boulevard Improvement Project from State Road 78 / Pine Island Road to Gleason Parkway, motorists should be on alert for a new traffic pattern. Starting Friday, March 12, southbound motorists traveling on Santa Barbara Boulevard between Veterans Parkway and Southwest 28th Terrace will shift to the east side of Santa Barbara Boulevard. Travel lanes on the west side of the road will be closed to traffic, reducing both northbound and southbound traffic to one lane only. This traffic shift is necessary as crews to construct the west side of Santa Barbara Blvd.
Alternate Route: Northbound and southbound motorists wanting to access Santa Barbara Blvd. between Pine Island Road and Gleason Parkway are encouraged to use Chiquita Boulevard or Skyline Boulevard.
Advance warning signs, electronic message boards, and barricades will be used to assist motorists traveling through the area. Construction on this section of roadway is scheduled to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
While traveling through the work zone, motorists are urged to use caution, obey the posted speed limit of 35 mph, and seek alternate routes whenever possible. Please be advised that unforeseen circumstances and weather may affect the schedule.
