To the editor:

I was not present at the GPICA meeting with Mr. Crabtree and so did not personally hear what was or wasn’t said. But, I know that a number of years ago, when my wife and I were new to the island, we tried to resolve a privacy issue with an intractable neighbor and found ourselves unwittingly on the wrong side of code control. You can imagine that we were surprised and happy, to meet Mr. Crabtree when he showed up. Though he seemed to sympathize with our situation, Mr. Crabtree was every bit as he was courteous in explaining to us what the code required and what the penalty might be if we failed to comply. He also described to us how we might attain our privacy without violating code. And we thank him for that to this day.

Sure, we all want to avoid code control fiat. But, when a neighbor is unapproachable, who else ya gonna call!
