Cape police with the Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics Unit arrested one suspect and confiscated 22 large, marijuana plants after serving a search warrant at a suspected grow house in the Northeast Cape. Dayron J. Marquez, 30, 1405 S.E. 23rd Place, was charged with trafficking in marijuana and possession of paraphernalia for cultivation.
Detectives with the VIN Unit executed a search warrant at 2114 N.E. 23rd Place at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Detectives located a two-bedroom growing operation on the south side of the home, officials said. The rooms contained 22 nearly mature marijuana plants. In the guest bedroom, detectives found 19 clones (small, marijuana plants). The pre-packaged weight of the mature plants is 123 pounds, and the street value of the hydroponic quality pot is $80,000.
The VIN Unit was assisted by the Cape Police SWAT team, North District Patrol 1st Platoon and the K-9 Unit.
