St. James Creek and friends are jammin’

Special to the Eagle St. James Creek, along with some of their friends, will perform at several new venues this month.

Local band, “St. James Creek” has been jammin’ at the Island Cow restaurant in St. James City on Tuesdays from noon until 2 p.m. and recently played during a beach party staged at the business on the evening of Jan. 15. The band has also been jammin’ at Earth and Spirit Garden Gallery in St. James City and at Coast Connection in Bokeelia. St. James Creek also have plans to play at the next beach party at Island Cow to be held on Feb. 19 starting at 5:30 p.m. Members of the group all hail from St. James City and include Alan Bickford on guitar, Darryl Tison on mandolin, Bob Cullen on banjo and Peg Cullen on fiddle and vocals.

Joining St. James Creek are husband and wife team from West Virginia, Les Caraher on guitar and vocals and Mary Caraher on fiddle and vocals, who play beautiful old time music. THe Caraher’s and others will be joining St. James Creek playing an acoustic jam on the Ray Jardine stage at the St. James City Civic Center, located at Fourth Avenue and Lemon Street, on Feb. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. All are welcome to bring lawn chairs and coolers to enjoy a fun day of “old time” and bluegrass music. This even is free of charge, however, a free-will offering will be appreciated as a portion of the proceeds will benefit the St. James City Civic Association.
