Deputies are looking for a gunman who tried to hold up two drug stores in Lee County.
The second incident happened Tuesday at 6:52 p.m. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to an attempted armed robbery at the Sweetbay Pharmacy at 61 Bell Boulevard, Lehigh Acres.
Deputies were told by witnesses a white male wearing a dark blue or grey hooded sweatshirt had gone to the pharmacy counter and demanded drugs. The male stated he had a gun. When the male was not given the drugs, he fled the scene.
Robbery detectives with the Major Crimes Unit of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office had responded to a similar call earlier in the day and quickly recognized the similarities. The earlier robbery attempt had taken place at 10:14 a.m. at the CVS Pharmacy at 9170 Daniels Parkway, Fort Myers.
Detectives were able to recover new surveillance photos from Sweetbay which reveal additional details. The blue hooded sweatshirt has the word “Southside” imprinted in large yellow letters across front. The suspect is described as a white male, 6′ tall, 190 pounds. In the Sweetbay robbery attempt he was wearing blue jean shorts and black and white sneakers.
