U.S. Census seeks island applicants
During the winter months, islanders seeking a temporary, part time employment opportunity may want to consider working for the Federal government.
Currently the U.S. Census Department of Commerce is seeking applicants to work in and around the Greater Pine Island area and has scheduled several opportunities to apply for a position.
“We have set up several dates for testing during the month of January and hope to recruit several individuals who are willing to help with the 2101 census,” said Census worker Ken Smith. “We decided to come to Pine Island directly because we had been told that some of the people who had attempted to apply had been given a bit of a run around so we are making an effort to make the process easier by coming to them.”
According to Smith, applicants should present a valid U.S. Passport and a photo ID prior to the testing.
The testing site will be at the Pine Island Public Library on Jan. 6, Jan. 14 and Jan. 20 with all testing beginning at 1 p.m. All are welcome to apply however, pre-registration is required.
