One person died and two were injured in a single-car crash on I-17 in Lee County Monday night.
Evelin Marleni Vasquez-Suar, 19, of Fort Myers, was northbound on I-75 in the outside lane when she lost control of her 1997 Ford SUV and traveled into the median, striking the guardrail, officials said.
The SUV overturned and came to rest on its roof, facing southeast in the median.
An adult male occupant, who has not been identified, was ejected and came to rest on the east shoulder. He was pronounced dead at Lee Memorial Hospital, officials with the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Vasquez-Suar was also taken to Lee Memorial Hospital. Her injuries were described as serious.
A 9-year-old passenger was taken to HealthPark Medical Center. She was not seriously injured, according to the FHP report released early Tuesday morning.
