Man struck by train identified
The man struck by a Seminole Railway train on Dec. 14, has been identified as Tomas Villa Alcauter, 50. Police say he was a transient.
The train was headed back to Fort Myers and was north of Matt Road in North Fort Myers when the engineer said he saw a man lying on his back between the rails. The engineer was unable to stop the train before striking the man.
The autopsy shows Alcauter was alive when he was struck by the train, officials said, adding the official ruling is pending, but at this time the death appears to be accidental.
