Letters to Santa can benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation
The Make-A-Wish Foundation and Macy’s are working together through Macy’s Believe campaign to collect letters to Santa this holiday season. For each letter that gets dropped off at Macy’s, the store will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The 2008 holiday season marked the launch of the Believe campaign, which raised $1 million dollars for and helped to grant the wishes of 1,300 children nationwide. With the help of the community, the same good can be done this year.
“In every Macy’s store can be found a mailbox to collect letters to Santa Claus. Bring your letter in, stamped and addressed to Santa at the North Pole, and for each letter Macy’s receives, $1 will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation,” said Judith Yevick, West Coast operations manager for the Southern Florida chapter in a prepared statement.
From 4-year-old Rose who got to spend a week at Disney World with her family, to 6-year-old Eric who got to explore the Grand Canyon and learn how to ride a horse, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida has granted the wishes of local children battling life-threatening illnesses. But there are still many more in need, like 16-year-old Jacob who wishes to go snowboarding in Switzerland or 13- year-old Tiffany whose wish is to meet the Jonas Brothers.
“We hope that people in the community will choose to give a little Christmas spirit in this holiday season,” said Yevick. “Everyone could become involved: teachers could have students write letters and learn about giving back to the community, school clubs could organize letter writing drives. It’s not hard to participate–it’s actually pretty fun–and it goes to such a great cause.”
The Santa Mail letterboxes will be in every Macy’s store through the holidays.
