Cape police looking for suspect in attempted kidnapping

By Staff | Dec 1, 2009

Cape Coral police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who attempted to abduct a student as she was walking to her bus stop this morning in the 1600 block of Southwest 47th Terrace. The girl, who was walking to her stop at 6:25 a.m, told officials she saw a man standing next to a pick-up truck and smoking a cigarette. As she walked by him, he grabbed her by the arm and said she was coming with him, the girl said, according to a prepared statement released by police.
The girl said she was able to pull away from the man and he immediately drove away from the area. She ran home and called the Cape police.
This was not the first time that this truck has been seen in the area, officials said. In addition, the suspect has been seen driving a newer, silver 4-door vehicle (perhaps a Nissan) with nice rims and tinted windows.
