Donations sought for annual Children’s Christmas Party

By Staff | Nov 23, 2009

The Dr. Piper Center for Social Services will celebrate its 94th annual Children’s Christmas Party on Christmas day and is seeking donations to help make the event memorable.
This annual Children’s Christmas party began with Mrs. Sarah Williams, Dr. Ella Piper’s mother, as a party for 15 little girls, in 1915 and continues to this day. Mrs. Williams loved the holidays and shared that love with her community. Before long this angel event began to provide hundreds of toys for boys and girls who arrived on her front lawn on Christmas morning. To find hundreds of children on her lawn on each Christmas morning became a wonderful joy for Mrs. Williams. For 11 years Mrs. Williams continued her joyous Christmas giving. Following Mrs. Williams death, her daughter, Dr. Ella Piper, continued the Christmas party tradition insuring that each child have at least one gift.
Last year donated gifts were distributed to more than 375 children. To continue the tradition on Christmas day help and support is sought.
* Send or bring donations to the Dr. Piper Center, 1771 Evans Avenue, Fort Myers, or call 239 332 5346 for us to pickup:
