Earl Kenneth Parris
Earl Kenneth Parris, 87, of Asheville, NC and St. James City, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Asheville.
A native of Madison County, NC, he was a son of the late John and Ethel Whiteside Parris. Earl was the owner and operator of Red’s Used Auto Parts in Asheville. He was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII aborad the USS Albert W. Grant, serving in the South Pacific.
Surviving are his wife, Christine Morris Parris; a son, Kenneth (Janice) Parris of Davie, Fla; three daughters, Jenny (Dewey) Barbee of Asheville, Shirley (Jim) Greene of Gainesville, Fla and Lou Ellen (Ralph) McLean of St. James City; a brother, JC Parris of Asheville; a sister, Betty Pittman of Candler, NC; four grandchildren, Amanda Gabbett, Amy McLean, David McLean and Matthew Parris and two great-grandchildren, Hiroji and Rikiji McLean.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, in the chapel at Groce Funeral Home in Asheville, NC with Rev. Dennis L. Thurman officiating. Interment followed at Bent Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team provided military honors.
