Beacon receives gift from Holloway Fund

By Staff | Nov 18, 2009

Marianne Paton Members of the Beacon of HOPE and the Bobby Board met last week at Southwest Capital Bank for a check presentation. The Bobby Board donated $500 to the Beacon to help aide in expansion of services on the island. Present were Bobby Board members David Bradley, Chris Dohme, Erestine Holloway Squires, Ralph Herring and Elsie Stearns, along with Beacon staff, Besty Haesemeyer, Sheri Dube and Barb Peckinpaugh.

Accepting a check in the amount of $500, the members of the Beacon of HOPE were thankful to the Bobby Board. A portion of the proceeds raised from the annual Bobby Holloway Jr. Memorial Fishing Tournament was donated to the Beacon of HOPE.

“This money will be of great help to us for our expansion,” said Barb Peckinpaugh with the Beacon.

In recent weeks, work is under way to expand the operations of the Beacon of HOPE office and Thrift Store at the island center to further accommodate the needs of Pine Island residents and in preparation for the union between the Beacon and the United Way.
