The school board is disgraceful
To the editor:
It’s vitally important that the media step up to the plate and take an active role in the necessary revamping of the school board.
The school board has continually acted in an unprofessional and shameful fashion and, by doing so, has placed the entire system in jeopardy.
The animus has served to illustrate a group that is ineffective, displaying child-like tendencies, and they are wasting our money while making us the laughing stock of Southwest Florida.
I have two suggestions that I believe would serve to help the situation:
1. Insist on the resignation of all members, including the superintendent. (Ineffectiveness cannot be tolerated.)
2. Or, I will volunteer to moderate a meeting. I will ask all the questions. All participants will agree that if I determine, at the end of the meeting, that answers have been vague, disingenuous, or dumb, l will name the violator and he or she will immediately resign.
Let’s be clear. I have never met any of the officials. I don’t represent any organization. And, I have no children in the school system. I’m a 25-year resident of Cape Coral. I have built and run sizeable organizations. And, I believe that when shameful politics place our school system at risk the media must do the responsible thing and step in.
The actions of the superintendent and the school board are adversely affecting the welfare of our children as well as the health and welfare of growth in Southwest Florida, impacting on the building industry, retailers, realtors, and every aspect of our struggling economy.
This is an urgent matter that cries for your intervention. And, I’d like to hear from you at your earliest opportunity.
