Cape Coral voters ousted the two incumbents seeking re-election for city council Tuesday, sweeping in newcomers across the board.
Challenger John Sullivan easily defeated Mayor Jim Burch, picking up more than 63 percent of the vote.
Sullivan received 10,898 votes to Burch’s tally of 6,373.
Challenger Chris N. Chulakes-Leetz earned more than 55 percent of the vote, besting District 4 Councilmember Dolores Bertolini. Chulakes-Leetz received 9,282 votes to Bertolini’s 7,565.
There were no incumbents running in Districts 1 and 6.
Kenneth “Marty” McClain beat Jim Martin in District 1 while Kevin McGrail emerged victorious over John F. Cataldi Jr. in District 6.
McClain culled 52.47 percent of the vote, receiving 8,637 votes to Martin’s 7,823. McGrail received 52.31 percent of the vote, receiving 8,761 votes to the Cataldi’s 7,986.
