Cape Coral police busted two separate marijuana grow houses Friday, though it is unclear if they are related.
According to a prepared statement from city spokeswoman Connie Barron, 97 marijuana plants were seized at the two locations.
Officials reported that Eduardo Vincente Vera, 42, and Isaida Odalys Cordova, 51, were arrested at 209 N.E. 23rd St., the site of the first grow house bust.
At 3:15 p.m., the Cape Coral Police VIN unit, with the assistance of Detective Jasmine Correa and officers of the first platoon, made contact with Vera and Cordova as they were leaving the residence, reports state.
Probable cause was reportedly established after the two were questioned on the scene, leading to a search warrant for the premises.
After the warrant was secured, officers made entry into the home and reportedly found 37 marijuana plants, 3 feet to 4 feet tall, inside the master bedroom.
Though the plants were not mature, police officials estimated that the plants would yield a street value of $140,000, with a prepackaged weight of 56.8 pounds.
Simultaneously, the VIN unit was notified by a property management company about another reported grow house at 1917 S.E. 32nd St.
A representative with the company informed police that they discovered marijuana plants growing in the garage while performing a walk-through and changing locks.
After obtaining a search warrant, officers seized 60 marijuana plants about 2 feet tall at the residence.
The prepackaged weight of the plants was 46.3 pounds. No arrests have been made in conjunction with the second grow house bust, according to police.
It was not immediately clear if the two grow houses were related. Barron did not return messages Monday seeking further information.
