‘Greatest’ guitar shredder to hit Educator’s Music for free clinic

By Staff | Oct 15, 2009

A rock ‘n’ roll legend will visit Cape Coral next week as Educator Music welcomes a guitarist who has been called the world’s number one shredder.
Educator Music owner Chris Durso invited Michael Angelo Batio, voted best shred guitarist by several music magazines, to lead a guitar clinic and put on a show at his store.
Batio endorses and uses Dean Guitars. According to Durso, his store is the number one retailer of Dean Guitars in Florida.
“We sell a ton of them and Dean (Guitars) got in touch and asked if we would be interested in a clinic with Batio,” he said. “Apparently we do a good volume for them.”
This is the first clinic Durso has held at his store.
The previous location of Educator’s Music had too many space restrictions, but Durso’s new location, across from Publix on Del Prado Boulevard South, lends itself to the kind of event opportunities Batio and Dean Guitars are making possible Wednesday.
“My old store wasn’t big enough,” he said. “The new store is so big and nicely laid out. There’s enough room for a stage, a full PA system and 150 seats.”
According to Durso, Batio is a guitar legend, having pioneered the twin and quad neck guitar designs.
He is also the greatest shred guitarist, teaching people how to play his patented shred techniques at clinics all over the country.
Batio plans on squeezing in the Cape clinic on his way to Miami, where he has several show dates scheduled.
“He’s very fast, much faster than Eddie Van Halen or Joe Satriani,” Durso said. “But it’s melodic, it’s technique, not death metal.”
The clinic is open and free to the public. Guitarists of all skill levels are welcome to attend.
Durso said no RSVP is needed, but available seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
